Bio

My name is Steve Bumbalough, and before anything else, I am a worshipper of Jesus. I’ve been blessed to be a husband, father, and now grandfather—known lovingly as Papi Steve. But more than titles or roles, I desire that my life be marked by a simple passion: to glorify God through music.

Music captured my heart as a boy, but it was only when I encountered the love of Christ that it found its true purpose. The violin and guitar became more than instruments—they became tools of worship, vessels through which I could pour out gratitude to the One who rescued me. Whether strumming my old red guitar or letting the violin sing, my desire is the same: to lift up melodies that magnify Him.

Every note I play, every song I sing, is simply to glorify Him.

In my early years, music was shaped by classical training and a little encouragement to try pop music of the day, like Beatles songs from my orchestra director. That joy grew deeper when, after coming to Christ, I began to play in small churches. With no available sheet music for violin in our worship, I had to learn to improvise—to listen to the Spirit and create melodies in real time.

It was in those moments I tasted what I believe heaven will be like: joy and freedom flowing unrestrained, worship without boundaries.

The violin, often compared to the human voice, has taught me that music is not just sound, it is soul. Each note can echo the cry of the heart. Improvisation and songwriting are not accidents of talent, but gifts of the Creator Himself, who spoke a word and birthed the universe. In the same way, He births songs in us to glorify Him.

Now, as I look back on a lifetime of God’s faithfulness, I see His mercy and grace more clearly than ever. When you’ve been forgiven much, worship stops being just music—it

becomes the overflow of a redeemed life. His mercies truly are new every morning, and my prayer is to spend whatever days I have left telling that story: through music, through encouragement, through reminding others of His endless love.

I long to see a new generation of musicians rise up—not just skilled, but Spirit-led, hearts on fire for Jesus. If my journey can inspire them to pick up their instrument and play for the glory of God, then I know I’ve done what He’s called me to do. Every note I play, every song I sing, is simply to glorify Him.
